Terra dei Messapi is the easternmost of the Italian regions.

Salento is the territory that welcomes first every new day, here the sun rises before any other region of Italy.

Each village houses a hypogeum, a bell tower, a baroque church, winding streets with small doors and green courtyards, colorful houses with bright colors and oriental-style buildings show the contamination of the Turkish world.
The countryside with dry stone walls, the "paiare", the masserie show the rural civilization of the past that had the main economic source in the land. Today they are the object of rediscovery for visitors who want to learn about the Salento culture. The fortified coastal towers scattered along the coast recall Turkish invasions for the conquest of a dominant position in the Mediterranean.

Numerous the Fiestas and the Festivals that still today recall the rituals and customs of the territory: the "Fòcara" of Sant'Antonio a Novoli, the "Pizzica" tarantata of Corigliano and Cursi, the "Dance of the swords" of Patù, the "Sagra te lu Mieru ”in Carpignano Salentino. Still the processions at sea that honor the peach and its fruits between sacred and profane.
